My dog has a bump in his ear. Is it serious, or will it go away?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 70 lbs

Was wondering if there was a concern for my 8 year old dog. Noticed a blister looking in his ear. Don't know if something I should have the vet brought in or something that is normal and goes away on its own

Hi there and thanks for your question! Sometimes these small bumps on the ear can dissipate over time but it depends on what it is. The only way to know what it is for sure is to have Rocky visit his veterinarian where they will take a small aspirate sample of the mass and look at it under a microscope. Depending on what the diagnosis is, the veterinarian will advise on the proper treatment plan. Hope this helps! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
