My dog's leg lump is suddenly red, swollen, and painful. What to do?

My small dog has a cyst that has been present on her back leg for years. Today out of the blue it grew and became red, swollen and is causing my dog great discomfort. She won't let me touch it and she is moaning in her sleep. It was never painful for her until today. What should I do?

Any growth/cyst needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Marlie to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.
