Found a finch in my yard. How do I tell if it's male or female?

I found a bird today in my yard, I was able to catch it. It's a finch bird i.was wondering if there any way to check if it's a male or female

It looks like a male, the only way to differentiate between males and females externally is the color of the beak, which is deep red in males and light red/orange in females. this looks like deep red to me.
