Is it safe to drain my cat's fluid cyst above her eye at home?

My cat has a fluid filled sac hanging front just above her eye. It's been there for years - filling up. Can I pop it and drain

The best course of action to treat Chloe is probably to have that cyst surgically removed. If you are unable to do this then I would recommend having the vet drain it. If you drain it at home it has the potential to become infected which could lead to serious complications. I would also be concerned with you doing it at home because it is located so close to the eye. Your vet will also be able to look at it more closely and determine if it is something that is benign or malignant. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
