My cat threw up once, now lethargic and not eating. Is she sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 11 months and 14 days old

My cat threw up a day ago and since then her behavior has changed. She sleeps/rests more, eats and drinks less and less playful. She only threw up once though and the day before she threw up she gagged but no vomit till the nxt day

Hello. I am sorry that Miley isn't feeling well. Any cat that has decreased eating, playing and drinking is a sick kitty. She could have eaten something that has upset her stomach, or could have a fever from a virus that is making her not want to eat and play. I would suggest having her checked by a vet to check her temperature and to make sure it doesn't look like she has something stuck in her guts that would need surgery to remove. Your vet will do an exam, and might need to take x-rays or do some bloodwork. Best of luck with Miley!
