My young dog is whining, won't walk, and seems miserable. What's wrong?

Duke is a little over a year old and started whining today. Now he isn't walking at all, he looks miserable. Not happy. And it's making me miserable because I have no clue what's wrong... any idea? I plan on bringing him to the vet tomorrow but I can't sleep not knowing any idea of what this could be...

Hi. Poor Duke. Without an exam and more history, it is hard to say. If he literally can't walk, I would get him in this evening. If he can walk but limps so doesn't want to, then first am is ok. I would make sure he can feel his back feet when you pinch and make sure he isn't "dragging" his back legs, as this is an ER. Possibilities depends on physical exam but possibilities range from orthopedic to neurologic. Ortho could be strains, sprains, cruciate tears, dislocations, etc. Neurological could include intervertebral disc disease in the back causing swelling and pushes on spinal cord, and other acute neurological injuries. He wil. Need a thorough exam to know which road to go down.
