Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 13 days old | 4 lbs
My dog ate something that had onion powder. She was fed in total probably one piece which I gather weighs about 2 oz. she is only 4 pounds and I'm literally going crazy. I don't have much money either to take her to the vet. I tried to get her to come out from under the bed but she didn't seem interested like she normally does. It fed her one gardein fishless filet piece. She also may be constipated and as I've noticed her butthole is inflamed. She's still eating and drinking fine. What can I do

Unfortunately even a very small amount of onion, in any form, can make a dog sick. Onion toxicities are consistently noted in animals that ingest more than 0.5% of their body weight in onions at one time. Contents of Onions affect red blood cells, and the signs to watch out for are; Lethargy Weakness Ataxia Pale gums Vomiting diarrhea Increased heart Increased respiratory rate Red or brown urine Hyper-salivation I would advise taking Shea to the vet as soon as possible. The sooner Shea is seen the better the outcome. Best of luck ontou both.

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Please do not be alarmed. A dog would need to eat several ounces of fresh onions to reach any type of toxic levels. The little bit of powder that was in the piece Shea ingested will not bother her. I do this all the time.
