Why is my puppy sleeping a lot, vomiting, and not urinating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Schnoodle | Female | spayed | 2 months and 22 days old | 18 lbs

Our puppy has been sleeping a lot more than usual today. She vomited earlier, but that was the first time she ever had done that. She hasn't urinated as much as usual today despite drinking a normal amount of water. She went almost five hours without urinating this morning. She had a later lunch than usual, but it was only an hour later. Is something wrong?

Behavior like this can be concerning in a young puppy, because puppies are supposed to be active and playful most of the time. With vomiting in a young puppy I always worry about parvovirus and intestinal parasites. If she has not been vaccinated or dewormed I would recommend taking her to your vet to be examined so that these two diseases can be ruled out. If Luna is up to date with her vaccinations and wormings and has only vomited one time, you could keep an eye on her for the next 24 hours and see how she does. If she continues to vomit, has diarrhea, or stops wanting to eat, then I would recommend taking her in right away. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
