My dog is vomiting but has a good appetite. Why is he coughing?

My dog just vomited Once since Aug. 9 , he vomited once a day up until now, but he has a good appetite , he sti loves to eat. I don't know what happened to him i am confused. Sometimes he just creating choking sounds, i think he has a cough ? i don't know i am i don't understand what happened to him . please help me. and also please tell me what medicine should i gave him? because he doesn't want to be injected i wanted to gave him meds that can be swallowed. please help me, what happened to him. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 11 months old

Hello and thank you for posting your question on Pet Coach! I am sorry to hear that J.Co is vomiting. It sounds like apart from the vomiting he is doing well. Have you switched foods recently or added new treats to the diet? If he gets into trash and is a scavenger, he may have eaten something that just isn't agreeing with him and has caused a bit of a dietary indiscretion. Since he is doing well otherwise, I would place him on a bland diet of ground beef (lean) or chicken breast and rice until the vomiting resolves. Once the vomiting resolves, I would transition him back to his normal diet and see how he does. If he does not improve or worsens, I would get him seen by your veterinarian as there are diagnostics that you might want to consider such as blood work, x-rays and / or abdominal ultrasound.
