What to do for my kitten's goopy, crusted eyes with conjunctivitis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 8 days old

Hello, I can't get my 5 month old Cat into the Vet until tomorrow. She has conjunctivitis and has been taking eye drops last week. It was getting better, and now we wake up and her eyes are goopey and they are crusted shut. Do I wetc or clean her eyes up or just leave it? It seems to hurt her when I try to wipe with warm wash clothes. Thank you

Oh poor girl! It appears that you are dealing with a severe case of conjunctivitis. I would recommend that you continue to wipe off the excesive mucus so that her eyes are not crusted shut as that can be quite uncomfortable. The trick is in being as gentle as possible. Try to use something very soft such as a soft towel soaked in slightly warm water. Your veterinarian tomorrow will most likely prescribe other medications to try to improve her condition. Best of luck with Azalia!
