My dog ate Roundup-sprayed grass and is throwing up. Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 15 lbs

My dog got into an area she wasn't supposed to be in and ate some grass that I had sprayed with round up about 3 hours before. She came inside and immediately threw everything up... Do I need to take her to a vet? Is there anything I can give her? She is a 15 pound min pin mix

Oh no, poor Zoey! She is experiencing a reaction to the Roundup, as eating grass that is still wet with it causes vomiting. You can also see diarrhea, excessive drooling, and weight loss. If she has vomited multiple times, then yes I would take her into a vet. She will need IV fluids to prevent dehydration, and the vet can treat her symptoms. If she has only vomited once, I would keep an eye on her for now. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. I hope this helps and Zoey feels better soon!
