Dog has diarrhea, won't eat, dry heaves, and dark stool. What to do?

My dog has diarrhea since yesterday, won't eat, drink until earlier this afternoon, occasionally has dry heaves. I have her dog diarrhea meds from pet smart. Stool is really dark. Not sure what else to do

It sounds like your dog has a severe case of colitis, or an inflammation of the colon. Colitis can be caused by many different things. Some of the more common causes include intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, food intolerance, irritable bowel disease. Very dark stools can indicate a GI bleed which can be very concerning. I would recommend taking him in to the vet to be examined. He may need fluids to correct any dehydration, a fecal examination performed and antibiotics and/or probiotics to help the diarrhea clear up.
