Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 14 lbs
Hi, My Golden Retriever pup was vaccinated by the breeder's vet at 6.5 weeks with DHPP. I got the pup and took him to our local vet and he had the pup vaccinated with DA2PP and Bordetella at 9 weeks. Is this normal? Thanks

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! We usually vaccinate a puppy every 3-4 weeks with the DHPP vaccine until they have 2 past 10 weeks of age. The bordatella is safe to give at 9 weeks. I think it was fine to give Teddy the DHPP booster a few days early. Congrats on your new Puppy!

Yes, this sounds quite normal. Typically, the DA2PP or DHPP (essentially equivalent vaccines) vaccines are given every 3-4 weeks from 6-8 weeks of age until 16 weeks of age. The bordetella vaccine can be given at any point after the 6 week mark. Some type of bordetella vaccines require a booster 3-4 weeks later, whereas others provide immunity for one year. I expect that Teddy's vet asked him to return between 12-13 weeks of age for his next booster vaccines.
