This could be due to a corneal injury or ulcer. I always am concerned about eye problems and recommend an exam soon. The veterinarian will stain the eye to check for an ulcer and make sure there is nothing in the eye. Then depending on the findings they will prescribe eye medication. Generally when treated right away eye problems usually heal quickly. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Rocco.

I am so sorry to hear that Rocco has a problem waits his eye, and it seems red and has discharge. Start by placing an e-collar or cone on Rocco to prevent scratching or rubbing. Because eye concerns with dogs, such as infections, corneal ulcerations, cataracts and glaucoma, can progress rapidly in dogs I would have him examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the issue as soon as you can. The precise medication can then be dispensed by your veterinarian. Please do not attempt to treat an eye infection at home with any over the counter medications, drops or ointments. This can lead to permanent damage and unnecessary pain or discomfort. I hope this answer was helpful and that Rocco feels better soon. Warmest regards to you both!

Poor guy. He may have injured his cornea and now has a scratch or ulcer. He will need to visit your local vet to have this treated for. There are no home remedies or over the counter treatments for eye issues in pets unfortunately. I would recommend taking Rocco in to your vet right away for further care. Best of luck with Rocco and I hope his eye heals soon.
