Why is my parakeet losing feathers around its beak and looks sick?

Hello, I have a question regarding my 5,5 year old parakeet. He started losing his feathers a round the beak, and his feathers are really thin, but besides that he acts normal and eats. I would recommend a check up with an avian vet for Mickey. Budgies can be prone to superficial parasites and mites that can cause further loss or it may be more of a viral,metabolic or endocrine problem
