My rescued kitten is sick, incontinent, and has pale gums. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

Found a very sick, abandoned kitten with diarrhea and severe dehydration. She spent a night at the vet and was treated with iv fluids, antibiotics and probiotics. The diarrhea stopped but she has fecal incontinence. Fecals are moist and light brown. [kitty stands up to eat, otherwise she doesn't really move. First time I brought her home she searched for a place to poop]. It's worth mentioning that she's all bones. Gums are white. She's not responsive and sits on one side. What can I do?

Great job getting Kitty to a vet immediately! Kitty sounds to be very ill and I would highly recommend that she be hospitalized for continued IV fluids, monitoring, further diagnostics, and treatment immediately. White or pale gums are a sign of shock and can be a life threatening if not treated appropriately. I would also recommend further diagnostics such as blood work and fecal tests for intestinal parasites to start. I hope Kitty gets better soon.
