My 8-month-old dog is aggressive. Should I train him or neuter?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 20 days old | 53 lbs

Is it possible to get obedience training for my dog at this stage,at 8 months of age. He is being quite aggressive now a days or is neutering a better option?

It is definitely possible to start some training. If he is showing signs of aggression I would recommend consulting a trainer or behaviorist who will do some one on one training in your home. You could ask your veterinarian who they recommend. I also find neutering to be helpful for many types of aggression. You could set up an appointment with the behaviorist and get their opinion and ask your veterinarian as well. It might take a lot of work but many dogs can do quite well with training depending on how severe the aggression is.
