Kitten's eye twitching, swollen, third eyelid showing: Is it an injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | 5 months and 21 days old | 5 lbs

My kitten's left eye has been twitching and occasionally her third eyelid will appear. She appears to have some swelling below her eye, so we think she may have hit her eye.

Place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent rubbing or pawing. Have Rocky examined by your veterinarian to diagnose eye injury or infection. She may need the eye stained to diagnose scratches on the cornea.
