My cat vomits digested food often, but seems healthy. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 8 years and 3 months old | 15 lbs

My cat has been vomiting every other day or so, several hours after eating but looking like mostly digested food. He's showing no other signs of illness and is peeing/pooping regularly. Any ideas?

Vomiting is a very vague sign and could indicates several different things going on. Some of the more common causes of vomiting include intestinal parasites, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach wall), pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, or a foreign body/blockage. Since Loki has been sick for so many days I would recommend taking him to the vet. He may be dehydrated and need fluids as well as some antinausea medication to help stop the vomiting.
