My cat has a new dark spot in its eye. Should I take it to the vet?

Hello My cat has a darker spot in his eye. This was not there before. Is this something have to worry about or is this normal?

I would have Akimba checked by your vet especially if the spot is new. It could be a melanoma (cancer) or a sequestrum. I'm worried about it because the borders of the spot are irregular and not smooth. It is hard for me to tell based on the photo if the spot is on the cornea or on the iris. Your vet will need to check the eye with an ophthalmoscope to get a better look. I don't think it's a dire emergency but I would try to get him in for an exam soon. I hope this helps. Best wishes!
