My cat had pancreatitis. Is it a recurring issue after treatment?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 11 lbs

My 4n half yr. Cat I got as stay 3 yrs ago was sick, not eating not drinking water, went to vet treated her for eat infection did blood work nx rays, she has arthritis in her spine, had in intestines and 1 kidney bigger than the other, also pancreatitis, she didn't eat for 10 days, finally got antibiotics and fluid treatments 2 times a week she slowly is eating again, is pancreatitis no longer anissue after antibiotics n fluid or will it be a recurring issue,

I'm sorry Juanita was ill! Pancreatitis can be a recurring issue for some cats, your vet may recommend a particular type of food that may be easier for her to digest to help prevent further issues. Hopefully she won't have a chronic issue but it is difficult to tell based on the information provided.

    Hi. Pancreatitis can be acute and not reoccur again. But sadly cats can get chronic pancreatitis and can have flare ups. A lot of cats get pancreatitis from underlying intestinal disease, especially inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Changing her to a special diet that your vet can recommend may be helpful. Chronic pancreatitis can lead to digestive issues and pre-dispose her to diabetes. I wish Juanita the best!
