It could be an infection, allergic reaction, or possibly an injury. Have your vet examine your cat to determine the cause. Your vet can take an xray, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat. Your cat may need an antibiotic or an anti-inflammatory to help treat the problem.
