Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 8 lbs
My 3 years old Shih Tzu did not eat yesterday, but today in the morning eat like 1/4 cup of his food. During today's walk I saw a little bit of blood on his stool. It look like mucus and the color was like berries. I also noticed sounds from his stomach. He is acting normal, he doesn't look tired or anything weird. I think that I am going to give him rice. How soon should I visit the vet?

If your dog is active/energetic and isn't having vomiting, and the stool isn't diarrhea, you can try feeding him a bland diet (such as plain cooked rice and boiled chicken breast) for a day or two. If he becomes lethargic at any point, has a painful belly, starts vomiting, stops eating again, the stools become diarrhea, or the blood/mucus in his still is still present in a few days or is increasing in amount, then I would seek veterinary care.
