Puppy has soft, orange poop after eating odd things. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 8 days old | 3.307 lbs

Update: Voldemort's doing good. Except for his poop. It's been continuously mashed potato-like (3 days now). Soft and orange. Not too wet. He found ways to get varnished wood, pee soaked paper, and 3 tiny plastic beads in his stomach. I fed him a bit of papaya as treat. Fed him white loaf bread. Medications are calcium, for legs and joint, and puppy vite. Still plays and growls when picked up (Why? He doesn't do it before). Still runs after toys and stuff. Should I be worried about the poop?

Hi, sorry to hear Voldemort is having diarrhea. The most common reasons for puppies to get diarrhea is worms. make sure he is dewormed properly by a vet. bring a stool sample to have them test it for worms, because not all worms can be seen without a microscope. Another reason is diet change. Since he is a puppy, it is likely you changed his food since getting him or have given him a treat he is not used to. And puppies are mischievous and can get into things like people food and garbage when not supervised. I would start by feeding hm a diet of boiled chicken and rice instead of dog food for 2 days to see if that clears it up. If not, take a stool sample to your vet and have him looked at and dewormed. Good luck, I hope this helps!
