Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 9 months old | 14 lbs
I have a cat who is full of energy and almost 2 years old. Me and my husband are usually out all day. He was a rescue and i am thinking of getting him a sibling so he is not alone all day. The only thing i am afraid of is making him feel as if he is not as important to me or if he doesnt get along with the other cat. What should i do?

It's fine to get Milo a cat companion! Cats often do enjoy the companionship of others, and they won't feel as if he's not important to you if you get him a friend. I have four cats who get along really well, and I make sure I give each of them plenty of love and attention every day. In fact, I'm typing this with one of them curled up in my lap sleeping! I can give you a method for helping to introduce new cats to each other: I would slowly introduce them to each other. Take the new cat, and put her in her own room with her own food, water, and litter box. Keep the door closed, and for a few days, feed them both treats on other side of door so they associate each other's smell with a good experience. Then let Milo in the new cat's room while the new cat is in a cat carrier. They can smell each other, but not be in contact. If either becomes upset or show signs of aggression, remove Milo from the room, and try again later. Praise them when they interact appropriately. When they are interacting well with each other through the carrier, you can let the new cat out of her room, and see how she interacts with Milo. Praise them when they interact appropriately, and separate them with any sign of aggression or upset. I would get a cat tree with lots of shelves to give the cats vertical space to get away from each other. I would keep the new cat in her room when you go out until they are comfortable with each other. I hope this helps :-)
