Puppy has scabby bumps, hair loss, no scratching. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 16 days old | 16 lbs

My border collie male puppy has some bumps that are kind of scabby and is losing his hair where they are. He doesn't scratch them. He was just at the vet 2 weeks ago for a well check and was in perfect condition. So it has come up quick. He hadn't been around any new dogs. He eats good and drinks and does not have diarrhea. Is there anything I can do til he goes to the vet on Monday and what is it? Will his hair grow back

All you can do is give him a bath and monitor the spots. Since he is not scratching and acting normal, he should be fine to wait until Monday and most skin conditions allow their hair to regrow. They will do a skin scraping and check for a genetic form of mange called demodex and check for fleas or an underlying allergy.
