I typically use a product called Tresaderm for ear mite infestations. I see it listed on 1800petmeds.com for $35, but you will need a prescription for it, and you'll likely pay an exam fee, which will vary depending on your vet's pricing policies, and also for a test to confirm that ear mites are indeed the problem. I'm not aware of any home remedies that work for definitively treating and ear mite infestation.

Unfortunately, there are no effective home remedies that work on ear mites, and a vet will have to be seen to treat them. It's very important to have ear mites treated right away, as leaving them untreated can lead to hearing loss. Costs vary by area and clinic, so I would recommend calling around to local clinics to see what their costs would be for an exam and the medication. A vet will not prescribe medication without an exam. I will link a website that gives a list of low cost clinics throughout the US: http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html?credit=web_id91754962
