Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 18 years and 6 months old
i'm extremely worried about my cat - she is 18 years old but very healthy & beautiful, until very recently she has been totally lethargic, depressed, and not eating or grooming herself properly. it's very sudden, and i have no idea what to do. i cannot afford to take her to the vet, although i know she needs it. she is old but i want to do whatever i can to help her, but she has no interest in any food - we have tried everything. PLEASE, any advice at all would be extremely helpful thanks so muc

You can try offering a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice) in small, frequent amounts. Serve it warm or mix in a teaspoon of baby food to stimulate Roxy's appetite. An exam and blood work with your veterinarian is strongly recommended given her age and condition. Discuss payment plans with your vet as well as alternative financing such as Care Credit (www.carecredit.com). You may also be able to get financial assistance from Red Rover (www.redrover.org).
