Why is my senior spayed dog losing bladder control at night?

My 8yr old female lab seems to be losing control of her bladder. She pees while sleeping and/or just laying down. She was spade at 6 months old. She's always had tremendous bladder control. She has always had access to water at her will. I'm worried that it may be kidney related.

Have your vet take a look at her to rule out a kidney problem or bladder infection. Your vet can run bloodwork and a urinalysis to screen for both issues. If there isn't a medical reason than it just might be that her urethral sphincter is becoming weak and your vet could try a drug called Proin to see if that helps.
