Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 2 months old
When my 5 year old cocker goes to the toilet first thing in the morning, it is fine, solid, but when she goes at lunchtime, it is horrible and sloppy. Why is this and should I be worried about it? This has been happening for a couple of weeks.

Since it sounds like this is a recent change for Lola, the first thing I would recommend would be to have her checked for intestinal parasites - these can be present even if you don't see any worms in her stool, and can often cause problems like the ones you describe. You can take a fecal sample to your vet's office for analysis - if a problem is found, he/she will prescribe appropriate medication to treat it. If the parasite check comes back negative, there are a few other things that you can try. First, a daily probiotic mixed in her food may be helpful - Forti-Flora is a good brand for dogs. You may also want to try changing her diet, since there may be an ingredient in her current food that doesn't agree with her. Food allergies and intolerances can develop over time, so this can still be the problem even if nothing has changed recently. If these things don't help, then I would recommend having her examined by a vet - she may need blood work or other diagnostic testing to help determine the problem.
