Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 10 months old
Hello, my cat came home 2 nights ago with a puncture wound on his ear. It was all swollen, but the blood was dried up and not excessive. And all the hair on that ear is was gone. We cleaned the wound and today the swelling has gone down. He's still playful and eats. I don't know if I should take him to the vet or not?

Poor Kitty! It sounds like he may have gotten into a fight with another cat or some other animal - this is fairly common for cats who roam outdoors. It's always best to have any wound checked by a vet since he may need antibiotics to treat any infection that remains. But if he is acting normal today, eating and drinking and wanting to play, and the swelling seems to be going down, it's possible that it may heal on its own. If you opt not to take him to the vet right now, I would recommend using a soft washcloth to keep the wound clean and monitor closely for the next few days to make sure that it heals.
