Why does my dog have lingering black spots on his face and jaw?

Our yellow lab mix has suddenly been having pitted looking black spots on his face. Our Vet has him on antibiotics for 10 days and also upped his Apoquel 2x a day which finished today. On his jaw line showed some red raw places. They are better but the spots are still lingering. Do you have an opinion ? Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 16 years old

This does sound like an infection secondary to allergic skin disease, especially given the improvement with treatment. An antiseptic suitable for use around the head such as vetericyn spray may also help. Further investigation to rule out additional issues such as mites or hormonal conditions may also be required
