My dog has a squishy lump on his cheek, inside and out. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 27 lbs

About two weeks ago I noticed my dog chewing on his cheek, I thought maybe a piece of food got stuck but I found a small bump on the inside of his right cheek. Now it is this huge, kind of squishy, bump that stays outside of his mouth with smaller bumps on the inside. I thought it would have gone away but now that it's this big I'm nervous.

Oh my! Poor Buster. This looks like some type of cyst or oral tumor, based on what I can see in the photo. I would definitely recommend taking him to the vet on Monday to have this checked. Your vet can take a biopsy of the mass to find out what it is, and will advise you on whether it needs to be surgically removed depending on the results.
