My dog on Vetoryl for Cushing's is vomiting and not eating. Help!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 7 lbs

My 10 year old Bichon Frise has Cushings and has been on 30mg of Veterol for two years. This past week, she has been refusing food (she has always been begging for food in the past) and has been vomiting (bile only), They symptoms she seems to be exhibiting seem to be more like Addisons now, is it possible that this has happened and should we stop the Veterol?

Vomiting and decreased appetite can be a side effect of Vetoryl. You should really call your vet and give him/her an update. Your vet may want to run an ACTH stimulation test and serum biochemistry, including electrolytes to see if her dose needs to be adjusted. Please call your vet as soon as you can.
