Why does my cat have an eyelid growth that vets can't identify?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

Our cat has had a swollen eyelid for about 8 months, 2 vets don't know what it is. She also has a growth on her gum on the same side, it has been removed surgically twice and is apparently not cancerous.

Unfortunately, this also looks like a growth/ tumor on the eyelid, not a swelling. Since it is covering so much of the upper eyelid, surgery to remove it will much more difficult and involved and may be best addressed by a veterinary eye specialist. I would ask your veterinarian to refer you to one for a second opinion and to discuss surgery to remove this.
