My kitten has soft, mushy poop. Is it normal or food related?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

On behalf of my friend and his 3 months old persian kitten, i want to ask this: why does his kitten poo is soft-mushy and not... hard(?) like a normal-and-healthy poo? My friend said it's not like a diarrhea, but it's still worrying. Is it related with the kitten's food? Fyi it eats kitten cat food from royal canin.

This can be due to switching from milk to hard food, switching from different types of food, intestinal parasites, or gastrointestinal issues. If the kitten has not been seen by a veterinarian and dewormed he or she should go sooner rather than later to make sure that there is nothing medical going on that needs to be treated.
