Why is my recently adopted dog coughing, shaking, and not eating?

My 3 year old dog is coughing, shaking, and doesn't have much of an appetite. I just adopted him about 10 days ago. Him not eating or drinking much is really worrying me. What could be wrong? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 39 lbs
