My dog can't urinate and his belly is hard. Is this an emergency?

My dog has struggled to urinate since Saturday evening and I'm concerned because his belly feeling a bit har struggled to urinate since Saturday evening and I'm concerned because his belly feeling a bit tired and I don't know what I should do and he still drinking and still eating

I would recommend you take Monty in for an exam with your vet as soon as possible as this could be an emergency. If he is unable to urinate, he is at risk for having kidney problems and even kidney failure. He could have a simple urinary tract infection that is causing him to strain while urinating, or could even have stones causing an obstruction in his urinary tract. The best thing to do is to take him in and have him evaluated. He likely needs to have a urinalysis done to see if he has an infection or even crystals in his urine. Hopefully he just needs oral medication, usually antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, to resolve the issue. Some dogs that have bladder stones do need surgery to have them removed. I hope that Monty gets back on track soon!
