Why does my dog have red, pussing bumps and scabs on his skin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

My dog has hard circular bump with a scab over it (but not fully covering bump). a little down his chest and to one side appear to be light scratching that is scabbed/crysted over in the same way. Both the bump and scratch area (the whole scratch area is red and inflammed) are slightly pussing and the crevices without scabs appear yellowish. He also has two tiny scabbed and pussy indents on the center of his back a little above where his hind legs are located.

Poor Peewee! He could have suffered an injury causing these bumps, or he could have scratched himself hard leading to them. Because there is pus, it means they are infected and he should see a vet for it as he likely needs antibiotics to treat the infection. I would bring Peewee into the vet tomorrow.
