Pet's info: Dog | Weimaraner | Female | 2 years old | 81 lbs
My dog has had diarrhea for 4 days. She has loose stools about twice a day. Her blood work was normal and her stool was negative for parasites. She had been eating normally but today she didn't really want her dog food. She did it chicken and is drinking water. The first day she seemed to be nauseated and uncomfortable but that decreased. Her vet gave her medication for nausea and antibiotics. There is no blood in her stool.I'm frustrated because she's not better. Any ideas?

Poor Sophie! If your vet did not test her stool for Giardia then I recommend a Giardia test is submitted to the lab. Your vet could also submit a diarrhea panel and also run a TLI, Folate, and B12 test to rule out small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. I am assuming your vet prescribed Metronidazole ( Flagyl) but, if not, your vet could prescribe metronidazole or tylan powder and see if it helps. You could also try Proviable KP and see if that helps. Feeding a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice may help, too. Hope she feels better soon!
