My dog has a stomach wound and is acting strange. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 35 lbs

My dog has a hole in his stomach recently. I took him to the vet in my town & he gave him a penicillin shot and some cream, but my dog is acting strange. He doesn't eat, he doesn't get up, he just lays around. He doesn't even wag his tail anymore. He also has a ton of fluid built up around the injury.

This wound is very concerning. I can't comment on how it started and past treatment but I would recommend Canyon get rechecked as soon as possible. This needs further care, potentially surgery to fix. I would think it is causing Canyon pain and discomfort. Do not give him any human medication as it can be toxic to dogs.
