Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 8 lbs
Hello! I just rescued a 3 year old kitty from one of my local shelters. I'm having trouble getting her to eat. Her medical records incidate she had a tooth extracted but is otherwise healthy. She may have also recently had Kittens. She's very cuddly and friendly, purring and is drinking water, but hasn't eaten much in the 5 days I've had her.

Congratulations on your new companion! One of the first things I would recommend would be to try a new food. Some cats are picky about brands/flavors. One of my favorites for cats that won't eat is Purina ONE. I have had pretty good success getting cats to eat this. Other brands that I recommend are Royal Canin, Science Diet, Iams, and Purina ProPlan. Also, if she is currently getting dry, I would try some canned and vice versa. Or sometimes cats like the 2 mixed. If you try switching foods and she still won't eat much, I would have her examined by a veterinarian to make sure she doesn't have a tooth that is painful or some other medical condition. Also, if she isn't drinking water she should be seen. I hope trying a different food helps!
