My 4-month-old puppy isn't eating. Should I switch his food?

My puppy not eating Kirkland puppy food. Should I switch to something else? He doesn't eat all of it and I wonder if he doesn't like it. Had him for about 3 weeks.. and he is about 4 months old.

You may be feeding too much. Use the recommendation on the back of the bag for his weight for a starting place for amount fed/day. If he is bright, alert, plays like a normal puppy and is gaining weight, he is likely just fine. Make certain he is current on his deworming and vaccinations. Puppies at this age do well with 2-3 meals daily. If you leave food out all the time he may not ever be particularly hungry and therefore it seems like he isn't eating well. I personally prefer a Hills/Science Diet or Royal Canin brand puppy food if you want to try a different, higher quality puppy diet. Hope that helps!

You could try him on another puppy food and see if his appetite improves. When changing a dog's diet gradually mix in the new food with the old over a few days to let their GI tract adjust. Otherwise you could see diarrhea.

It's possible he just doesn't like the food indeed. try switching him gradually to a new good quality food such as Accana, Orijen or Evovle, hopefully Chewie will like his new food better. try to avoid giving him wet food as he may become even more picky.

I would recommend a high quality puppy food such as Royal canin, Iams, science diet or proplan. But try not to switch his food often. Do it once if you want to try a different food but mix it gradually with his old food. Sudden diet changes cause GI upset.
