Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bulldog | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 87 lbs

My American bull dog. White. Pink skin & sensitive. Keeps breaking out in red patches in the groin area. It looks like ringworm, but not perfectly round. Rash like but doesnt crust over. the splotches spread or grow wider. He's on gluten free, poultry free, grain free diet. No human food. No meds other than heart worm.

This sounds like it could be a skin infection in Denver and he may need antibiotics to help clear it up. If he is itchy at all it may be related to an allergy and constantly scratching or licking the area may make it worse. You could try putting some OTC cortisone cream on the area and/or neosporin and see if that helps (just make sure he doesn't lick it off). If that doesn't seem to help it may be time for a trip to the vet. Oftentimes these infections require antibiotics to fully fix the problem.
