My dog has mucus in her poop and kennel accidents. What's the cause?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 10 years and 4 months old | 65 lbs

What could be the cause of my dog to have a lot of mucus in her stools and having accidents in her kennel? She is a 9 yr old Huskey/Lab/Chow mix.

Nellie may have eaten something that disagreed with her stomach and intestines--this is the most common cause. If you take her in to your vet, you can get medication for her like probiotics and antibiotics to help her feel better faster, or you can start adding probiotics and more fiber to her diet on your own and wait it out. She may need to be on a special prescription diet long-term to help her bowel health.
