Cat bladder blockage: Will it recur, and what are the next steps?

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 4 years and 6 months old | 10 lbs

So merlin has just had the last three days of bladder blockage what are the canhces of it recurring ? And is there a likely possibility of him being put down ?

If stone or sediment formation is diet related, it can be managed. Another obstruction cannot be ruled out though. Typically, after a cat becomes obstructed multiple times, a urethrostomy procedure is performed. Try to get him to drink as much liquid as possible. This will keep the urine dilute and the kidneys flushed. Mix water into his meals.
