My puppy hasnt eaten for about a day and this morning he started to be sick and she can't even keep water down. She was only just separated from Ber litter mates. I am scared that she will become dehydrated. I just need to know if its anything serious.

Puppies should eat 2 to 3 times a day. If she's now vomiting, I would worry about infection (parvo, parasites, etc) or that she swallowed a toy, hair tie, etc. You're absolutely right that very small animals like your puppy can become dehydrated quickly. I recommend an exam with a vet in your area today.

Throwing up water is a serious warning sign. Your puppy could have a parvo infection, especially if he is also lethargic, and not eating. You need to call your vet and tell them you are coming in with a sick puppy (vomiting, not eating, drinking) and they will give you instructions on when to come and where to bring the pup (parvo is very contagious, so your vet practice may have a separate entrance for dogs with suspected contagious disease). Please call your vet now.

Hello. I am so sorry that Little un is not feeling well. The biggest concern with vomiting & not eating is dehydration, & in such a small breed, low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. The reasons for this are many, including intestinal parasites, infections ( including Parvo ), eating garbage or a toxin/poison, ingesting a foreign body, or a condition in the intestines called intussusception. Treatment depends on what is causing you puppy to feel & act sick, so you really need to have her evaluated as soon as possible. The sooner you know what is going on, the quicker treatment can be started to return her back to good health. Good luck & thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
