My bunny is sneezing with clear discharge. Is it snuffles? Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My bunny has been sneezing and I notices clear nasal discharge. My boyfriend says " im not taking a rabbit to the vet, thats stupid and uncommon." I just really want to know the difference between snuffles and a respitory infection, and if it is a respitory infection, will he be okay without antibiotics?

This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or eventually to a chronic rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. No, it won't be ok as many respiratory diseases are fatal to rabbits antibiotics will be probably needed.
