Why is my 6-week-old puppy peeing so much and it's clear?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 16 days old

I noticed last evening that my 6 weeks old pup pee like 4 times in like in an hour and it looks very clear just like water (she doesn't seems painful). She never did that before. Is anything to worry about ?

I'm glad to hear that Irati still seems comfortable, but urinating 4 times in just one hour is very frequent. It may have been that she drank a lot of water after playing, but it could also be an early sign of a urinary tract infection. Monitor Irati closely for ongoing frequent urination, straining to urinate or drinking more, as all could be a sign of infection. If you are still noticing these changes, she should be taken to her vet for an exam and urinalysis. If this was a one time occurrence, there is likely less cause for concern. I hope that all goes well!

It sounds like Carlie has a urinary tract infection (UTI). It is best to get her seen by your vet soon for a test of her urine (urinalysis) to see if bacteria and white blood cells are present to confirm a UTI. UTI's are common in puppies and cause frequent urination because the bladder is sensitive and requires frequent emptying due to the presence of an infection. Females also get UTI's more often because of a short urogenital tract. A short course of antibiotics is often all that is needed to clear a simple uncomplicated UTI.
