Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered
Hi. I have a 4 year old indoor cat who has had a extreme amount of weight loss in the past year. He eats like crazy and doesn't gain any weight. Do you think there is any chance of him having diabetes?

There are many possible conditions that could be causing Conrad's weight loss despite his ravenous appetite. The most likely causes of these signs in a young cat include parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic pancreatitis, cancer, among others. Diabetes seems less likely unless Conrad is also drinking and urinating excessively. At this point, I recommend taking Conrad to the vet, as he will need diagnostic testing (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, T4 - thyroid, abdominal ultrasound, fecal test) to get to the bottom of the issue. I hope that all goes well!
